Una buena y generalmente más barata alternativa a los hoteles son los apartamentos de habitaciones. Los precios en estos apartamentos son muy similares a los de los hoteles de 2 o 3 estrellas. Se trata de una nueva tendencia, muchos turistas dan preferencia a este tipo de alojamiento frente a los clásicos hoteles. Son principalmente las familias con niños o grupos grandes de personas quienes buscan alojarse en apartamentos. Algunos apartamentos de vacaciones y pisos pueden alojar hasta 12 personas, por esa razón los grupos numerosos que quieren alojarse “bajo un mismo techo” suelen ver con muy buenos ojos este tipo de alojamiento. Los apartamentos suelen estar equipados con cocina y posibilidad de cocinar, nevera, televisión y en muchos casos incluso con conexión a Internet. La mayoría de ellos no dispone de recepción o de servicio de habitaciones. Por otro lado tendrá con toda seguridad mucha más privacidad. Un pequeño inconveniente es que en la mayoría de casos es necesario recoger las llaves y registrarse en la oficina antes de alojarse y al marcharse las llaves deben devolverse nuevamente.
